Dreikurs History and Mission
|
Advancing Mental Health Since 1973
The Dreikurs Psychological Services Center (PSC) was established in 1973. It is a not-for-profit community mental health center licensed by the State of Illinois as a psychological service agency. Since 1973, the PSC has provided comprehensive mental health services to thousands of individuals and families – adults, adolescents and children.
In addition to offering direct mental health services through a central clinic in downtown Chicago, a number of outreach programs and services are offered throughout the Chicago area via several satellite service centers.
Mission
The PSC is guided by the values inherent in Alfred Adler's theory of human behavior; respect for and acceptance of the uniqueness of each individual across all domains of human diversity; compassion for and understanding of each person; an optimistic, pragmatic and collaborative attitude in helping others, and a commitment to advancing society as a whole through social involvement and advocacy and support for those who are marginalized and underrepresented. The PSC has a dual mission; to provide affordable mental health services to the community and to serve as a teaching clinic for those training to become psychologists and/or counselors.
