SOCIAL EXCLUSION CONFERENCE SERIES

There are many discourses on structural causes of disadvantage or social exclusion. They can be found in such diverse disciplines and professions as sociology, economics, political science, geography, anthropology, theology, biology, linguistics, the arts, psychology, law, social work, architecture, planning and communications, to name a few. However, many of these discussions are too infrequently linked – largely because of differences in terminology, approaches and the particular structures of analytic interest. The purpose of the conference series is to highlight the linkages among these varied discoursed, to lay a foundation for the development of a broad-based conversation about issues of exclusion, and to set the stage for the development of advocacy, action and policy responses to exclusion.
