505 Professional Development, Issues & Ethics

This course is designed to provide students with a solid foundation for the ethical practice of psychology and counseling. Students will learn codes of ethics of the American Counseling Association and the American Psychological Association, as well as the history of professional counseling and therapy. A review of theories of social justice and their relationship to ethical decision making will be provided. This course will also reinforce the basics of professional writing and provide an introduction to supervision, consulting and leadership. Students will learn to apply ethical and professional decision-making skills to current issues facing the fields of counseling and psychology. (3 credits)
