When are the application deadlines for the degree programs?

The Adler School employs a rolling admissions process. While applications are accepted throughout the year, priority deadlines are in place for the doctoral program. These deadlines are February 15 for Fall Term admission and November 1 for Spring Term admission. Since most programs fill quickly, applicants are strongly encouraged to begin the application process early.

Can the degree programs be completed on an evening and/or weekend basis?

The Adler School degree programs are not offered entirely on an evening and/or weekend schedule. All coursework (not necessarily practica) can be completed on an evening and weekend basis for the following programs:

• Master of Arts in Counseling and Organizational Psychology - Chicago
• Master of Arts in Counselling - Vancouver 

All other programs have coursework offered at a variety of times - day, evening, and weekend.

Are the degree programs accredited?

Adler School of Professional Psychology is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association. In addition, the Clinical Psychology doctoral program and pre-doctoral internship are accredited by the American Psychological Association.

Is the GRE required for admission?

The GRE is not required for admission to Adler School degree programs. However, a GRE score may be submitted for review with the rest of your admissions materials.

Does the Adler School provide student housing?

Although Adler School of Professional Psychology does not provide on-campus housing, you can find more information about area housing by visiting the Chicago Life and Vancouver Life sections of our website. 

What types of financial assistance is available to Adler School students?

Adler School offers a wide variety of US financial aid and Canadian student loan opportunities to US and Canadian students. US students can begin this process at any time by completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid at www.fafsa.us and adding our school code (G20681). Adler School also offers a variety of scholarship opportunities for US and international students.

Do I need a degree or background in psychology to apply?

At the Adler School, we encourage degree candidates from diverse cultural, educational, and professional backgrounds to apply with the understanding that each program has specific prerequisite requirements. 

Can I submit an application for admission if I have not yet completed the specific prerequisites?

We encourage prospective students to apply as early as possible, even prior to completion of the admission prerequisites.  If admitted, any outstanding prerequisites are required to be completed by the end of your first year.  Many students complete the prerequisite courses at the Adler School prior to beginning their program.

Does Adler School accept transfer credit?

Students accepted for admission may be granted transfer credit for graduate level courses previously taken at other accredited institutions. A maximum of 12 credit hours may be transferred into an M.A. program and a maximum of 24 credits may be transferred into the Psy.D. program. Once you have been accepted for matriculation, you should submit a request for transfer credit to the Office of Admissions.
