Please describe your teaching philosophy
I believe that learning is an active process and attempt to promote a lively interchange between the students and myself using a variety of teaching tools and techniques. I am passionate about both the clinical practice and the science of psychology and consistently blend my extensive knowledge of the science and theory of the field with ""real-life"" examples from my many years of clinical practice in a wide variety of clinical settings.
When did you first become interested in your particular specialty or psychology in general?
One of the many benefits of being a practicing clinical psychologist is the ability to pursue a variety of different clinical interests. My interests were initially in the field Adlerian psychology and this has informed all of my subsequent activities within the field of psychology. I also have extensive experience in forensic/correctional settings and am an expert in the assessment and treatment of sex-offenders. All of my clinical work is also informed by the rich tradition of the science of psychology and I actively seek to promote critical thinking skills in all of my clinical activities.
What do you feel differentiates Adler School from other professional psychology schools? Why do you choose to teach at Adler?
In addition to its clear focus on the issues of social justice and the promotion of community involvement, the Adler School is also uniquely Adlerian. The School's rich tradition of training clinicians in the practice of Adlerian psychology has always been central to the School's mission and this work continues today as it has for more than the past 50 years.
