Travel

Our student body is diverse,
representing countries from
around the world.

Travel Considerations

International students traveling outside of the US will need the following documents for re-entry:

  • Passport: must be valid at least six months into the future
  • Valid visa
  • Current Form I-20
  • Any past Form I-20s or DS-2019s you have held
  • Remember to submit your I-94 card as you leave the US and retain a new I-94 upon re-entry (request that the border official staple your new I-94 card into your passport)
  • Proof of Financial Resources: carry a letter verifying your fellowship, assistantship, or private resources covering your expenses as a student
  • Visa to Enter a Third Country: if you are visiting a country other than your own, you may need a visa from the third country for entry

Spouses or dependents joining the student in the United States should present the following to the U.S. Embassy:

  • Dependent Form I-20 or DS-2019
  • Evidence of financial support for the entire family
