Services

A dedicated staff of professional librarians, supported by student assistants, strives to advance your learning, teaching, and research experience. Below is a list of Library services. For additional assistance, please contact the Library staff by phone (312-662-4230) or e-mail.

Reference Services

Reference staff will assist with any aspect of your research process. You can access reference help in person, by phone (312-662-4230), or by e-mail. The reference desk is staffed during the Library's hours of operation.

• Reference-by-Appointment
  If you are seeking in-depth assistance refining a research topic or selecting and using research materials, you may schedule an individual reference session. Schedule an appointment in person, by telephone (312-662-4230), or by e-mail.
   
• Dissertation Consultation
  If you are a doctoral student, you may schedule an individual consultation at the proposal or writing stage, as well as for assistance with literature review.

Instruction Program

If you are a faculty member, you may schedule in-class instruction sessions for group assistance in topic clarification, database selection, and resource evaluation.

Borrowing from Other Libraries

Thanks to active participation in library consortia, as well as collegial working relationships with other US libraries, we are able to offer you timely delivery of materials not held in our collection.

• Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
  You may order aticles from journals not available through the Library by using Interlibrary Loan (ILL). The Library provides ILL to current Adler School students, staff, and faculty through the ILLiad system. Visit the ILLiad LibGuide for complete information, or log on to ILLiad.
   
• I-Share
  If we don’t have a book you need, you can locate and request books from 75 partner libraries in Illinois through I-Share. You can also visit any I-Share library and borrow items onsite. The I-Share database contains more than nine million unique bibliographic records and more than 32 million item records. The combination of this enormous collection with I-Share’s resource sharing services means that I-Share library patrons have ready access to a collection larger than most of the world’s greatest research libraries. Reserves

The Library places required books and recommended texts on reserve to provide students short-term access to course materials each semester. We also work with faculty to embed links to full-text book and journal content into their syllabi.
