My area of specialization is art therapy. Though it was difficult to leave my position in the community as a child art therapist, I told the children that I was now going to teach adults to do what I am doing so more people can use art therapy as a means of healing. Guiding the next generation to excellence in the field is exciting.

I believe students learn best in an atmosphere of respect and acceptance. I enjoy incorporating educational and popular videos to bring visual impact to the topic at hand, and I always provide handouts and information in addition to required readings. Part of the students’ education in this discipline is to develop self-awareness, especially in light of their future therapeutic work. My hope for students is that they become lifelong learners, members of professional organizations, and future leaders in the field.
