    Come join the Military Psychology Student Organization (MPSO) and the Student Veterans Association (SVA) for an Adler School Veterans Day event. The event will feature a presentation of colors as well as a moment of silence honoring all Veterans. This event is opent to faculty, staff, and students to come and honor our nations Veterans. World War II Veteran, Dick Lockhart, will speak about his experiences as a POW during the holocaust and being a survivor of Battle of the Bludge. A panel of Adler School Veterans will also speak.. We encourage you to show your support that day by wearing your favorite military branch's colors, t-shirts, and other items. We look forward to seeing this Veterans Day.

  • International, Cultural, and Adlerian Perspectives on Parenting (+)

    This panel presentation will provide both international and domestic approaches to Adlerian parenting to help inform the audience members the importance that culture has in supporting parents and families. The learning objectives for this panel presentation are as follows:

    • Participants will gain knowledge and insights about Adlerian parenting principles that can be applied both internationally and domestically.
    • Participants will learn of interventions and strategies to support parenting from an Adlerian perspective in both international and domestic settings.

    Panelists include: Dr. Roberto Rodriguez (UNIBE-San Jose, Costa Rica), Dr. Maricruz Ramos (Adler School-Chicago), and Dr. Leigh Johnson-Migalski (Adler School-Chicago).

    This event is open and free to the entire Adler School community (students, staff, faculty, and alumni). One Continuing Education credit will be offered for this event.

  • Arrest Records as Barriers to Employment (+)

    The Adler School of Professional Psychology Institute on Social Exclusion, in collaboration with its co-sponsors, will host this Midwest summit for attorneys, policy makers, workforce development and employment agencies, human resource personnel, business groups, community organizations, community leaders and residents.

    The program will feature keynote speaker Chai Feldblum, Commissioner, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Panel presentations will examine:

    • Revised EEOC guidelines for employers in considering arrest histories in hiring decisions
    • Impact on juveniles and adults seeking jobs—especially in vulnerable communities with high arrest rates
    • Current legal action involving major employers and the EEOC guidance
    • Remedies and implications
    • Research findings on guidance application and its mental health impact in Chicago’s Englewood community
