Circulation and Access Policy

The primary function of the Sol and Elaine Mosak Library is to serve the teaching, research and scholarly activities of faculty, staff, and students. To best fulfill this mission, access is restricted to members of the Adler School community, and to unaffiliated scholars who wish to use the Archives by prior arrangement with the Library. A valid Adler School identification card is needed for access to the Library and for checking out books. Vancouver campus students are also issued borrowers' cards for the University of British Columbia.

The Library asks borrowers to honor due dates, recall notices and circulation restrictions. Students are responsible for fines for overdue books. As a courtesy to fellow borrowers, we encourage all borrowers to be responsible with library materials to ensure that items are not damaged or lost. Students or faculty who will be away for an extended leave are asked to return library materials before departure.

All circulating items are subject to recall by the Library for use by another patron. Recalled items must be returned to the Library immediately.

Circulating items include: books, dissertations and theses, audiotapes, Reserve folders, videotapes or DVDs (to faculty only) and psychological testing materials (to faculty and to authorized students only).

Non-circulating items include: Journals, Reserve Books, Rare Books, Archival Material, and Special Collections.

Other Circulating Materials:

Reserve Reading Folders

One copy remains in the Library at all times. The other copy can be checked out to students overnight. The packet may be returned any time the following day. There is a $5 per day overdue fine for reserve readings not returned on the due date.

LCD Projectors

LCD projectors are installed in all Adler classrooms. The Library has a few additional projectors that may be reserved by faculty for campus use only. Faculty reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis; however, availability cannot be guaranteed. Projectors must be picked up from and returned to the Library. The borrower is responsible for the security of the projectors.

Audio Tape Players

The Library has a limited number of audiocassette tape players which may be used on campus by students, faculty and staff. Advance reservations are strongly recommended. Special permission may be given to faculty members or teaching assistants to take players home overnight for course related projects.
