Circulation and Access Policy
The primary function of the Sol and Elaine Mosak Library is to serve the teaching, research and scholarly activities of faculty, staff and students. To best fulfill this mission, access is restricted to members of the Adler School community and to unaffiliated scholars who wish to use the Archives by prior arrangement with the Library. A valid Adler School identification card provides access to the Library and is needed when presenting mat erials for check-out.
In accordance with the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association, the Library will ""protect each library user's right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought or received and resources consulted, borrowed, acquired or transmitted.""
The Library asks borrowers to honor due dates, recall notices and circulation restrictions. Students are charged fines for overdue books. As a courtesy to fellow borrowers, we encourage all borrowers to be responsible with Library material to ensure that items are not damaged or lost. Students or faculty who will be on extended leave are asked to return Library materials before departure.
All circulating items are subject to recall by the Library for use by another patron. Recalled items must be returned to the Library immediately.
Circulating items include: books, dissertations and theses, audiotapes, Reserves folders, videotapes or DVDs (to faculty only), and psychological testing materials (to faculty and to authorized students only).
Non-circulating items include: journals, Reserve Books, Rare Books, archival material, and Special Collections.

Other circulating materials:
Reserve Reading Folders
One copy remains in the Library at all times. The other copy can be checked out to students overnight. The packet should be returned any time the following day. There is a $5.00 per day overdue fine for reserve readings not returned on the due date.
LCD Projectors
LCD projectors are installed in all Adler School classrooms. The Library has a few additional projectors that may be reserved by faculty for campus use only. Insurance restrictions only allow the projectors to be used on campus. Faculty reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. However, availability cannot be guaranteed. Projectors must be picked up from and returned to the Library. The borrower is responsible for the security of the projector.
Audio Cassette Players
The Library has a limited number of audio cassette tape players which may be used on campus by students, faculty and staff. Advance reservations are strongly recommended. Special permission may be given to faculty members or teaching assistants to take players home overnight for course related projects.
Fines and Fees
Students and Alumnae are subject to fines. Faculty and Adjunct Faculty are exempt from fines but are responsible for replacement fees and charges on items that are considered ""lost."" An item is assumed lost if it is not returned within 30 days of the due date. Borrowers are responsible for replacement costs of any damaged or lost items. Replacement cost includes a $25.00 processing fee.
Suspension of Borrowing Privileges
Borrowing privileges may be temporarily suspended for any of the following reasons:
Excessive overdue items;
Failure to return an item that has been recalled or is on reserve;
Unauthorized removal of material designated as ""Library use only""
Outstanding replacement charges;
Outstanding interlibrary loan books or charges;
Loss of status as a student in good standing.
Privileges may be reinstated upon correction of these conditions.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows libraries to augment their on-site collections by cooperative lending and borrowing of research materials. Currently enrolled students, faculty, administration and staff of the Adler School are eligible to request books or copies of articles through the Interlibrary Loan service. Vancouver students are encouraged to use their library privileges at the University of British Columbia for ILL services.
Conference Room
The Sol and Elaine Mosak Library Conference Room is available for use by Adler School faculty, staff and students for collaborative projects, test administration, audiovisual recording or viewing or other academic needs.
The room may be scheduled only during regular service hours on days the library is open. Regular events (e.g., weekly meetings) should be scheduled well in advance to ensure availability. Group projects take priority, and groups may reserve the room for up to two hours. Individuals may reserve a room for up to one hour. An extension for an additional hour is possible if no one is waiting. The conference room may be reserved in person or by phone.
Gift Book Policy
The Sol and Elaine Mosak Library welcomes book donations that fall within the scope of our collections. Potential donors should contact Kerry Cochrane, Director of Library Services, at (312) 201-5900, x235.
Donors are requested to arrange the transportation of their gift materials. All gifts become the property of the Library. Libraries are not permitted by the Internal Revenue Service to give donors an estimate of the value of gifts.
