Panel Discussion:  A panel of law enforcement leaders will engage in discussion with Professor Cole following his remarks, featuring:

  • Chicago Police Superintendent ~ Jody Weis
  • Former U.S. Attorney ~ Thomas Sullivan
  • Illinois State Police Director ~ Jonathan Monken

David Cole is a professor at Georgetown University Law Center, a volunteer staff attorney for the Center for Constitutional Rights, the legal affairs correspondent for The Nation, a regular contributor to the New York Review of Books, and a commentator on National Public Radio's All Things Considered, and the author of five books: The Torture Memos: Rationalizing the Unthinkable (2009); Less Safe, Less Free: Why America Is Losing the War on Terror (2007); Enemy Aliens: Double Standards and Constitutional Freedoms in the War on Terrorism (2005); Terrorism and the Constitution: Sacrificing Civil Liberties for National Security (2005, with James X. Dempsey); and No Equal Justice: Race and Class in the American Criminal Justice System (1999).
