Outstanding Alumnus Award
The Outstanding Alumnus Award is presented to two alumni who have done stellar work in the field of psychology. The 2011 Outstanding Alumnus Awards were dedicated to Alumnus George Searles in honor of his recent passing.
Dr. Jay Colker
Dr. Colker has had two distinct phases of his career: 20 years of clinical work and 18 years of organizational development work in the corporate arena. As a clinician, he has worked in private practice, as well as in various addiction treatment facilities. He has run the School’s Family Education Center and helped establish the Child Guidance Center. He holds a Master’s in Counseling Psychology, an MBA, and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. Currently, he’s a consultant; he works on diversity and inclusion initiatives; and is an adjunct professor at the Adler School and at the University of Phoenix.
Dr. Arena Mueller
Dr. Mueller has a Psy.D. that was conferred in 2006. From 2006-2009, she worked in the Counseling Center at Bowling Green State University. In May of 2009, she accepted the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Substance Abuse Specialist position at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Oklahoma. At the VA, she helps dually diagnosed men and women manage their disorders. She is certified in Prolonged Exposure Therapy and believes in the efficacy of exposure therapies for anxiety based disorders. She volunteers for a local SPA program and encourages Veterans to engage with dogs to assist with disorders management.
