Advancing learning by serving
students, faculty and staff.

Center for Learning and Teaching

The Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT) supports and advances the Adler School’s culture of academic excellence. The CLT supports students in becoming tomorrow’s innovative leaders by providing services that help them take their personal next steps towards scholarly excellence. For faculty, the CLT serves as a place to connect with colleagues, explore new pedagogical approaches, and dialogue on issues in teaching and learning. Here, faculty-student forums facilitate discussion and learning outside the traditional classroom environment. The CLT supports all members of the school’s learning community and challenges them to maximize their personal and professional potential to become innovative change agents.

The CLT is staffed by a Director, an Assistant Director, Peer Consultants, and additional support personnel committed to exploring and sharing diverse approaches to learning and professional growth. The CLT offers spaces for private consultations, quiet study, and large group workshops and seminars. Whether your goal is skill-building, dialogue with peers, or you wish to learn something new, the Center for Learning and Teaching is a welcoming place ready to help you take the next step in your ongoing academic and scholarly growth.

CLT Leadership

Bill Epperly, Ph.D., is the Director of the Center for Learning and Teaching (CLT) at the Adler School of Professional Psychology. He sees the CLT’s role as supporting the growth and development of the Adler School’s learning community towards greater excellence. To that end, he works with faculty, staff, and students to develop programming in areas that range from best practices in pedagogy to statistics and research methods. Bill believes that one’s personal achievements and scope of influence are most often limited by their own beliefs and habits. It is his hope that the CLT can provide resources to enable you to take the next step towards fulfilling and exceeding your academic and professional goals. Click here to read his bio.

Cathleen Bridgeman, Ph.D., is the Assistant Director of the Center for Learning and Teaching. She coordinates writing services for Adler School students, faculty, and staff in Chicago and Vancouver. Cathleen has teaching experience at the university level in both the United States and the Middle East and has worked with writers of varying levels and language backgrounds. She helps individuals become aware of their writing processes and of the many resources and strategies available to address any issues they find problematic in academic and professional writing. Cathleen wants every student to recognize the importance of writing well, not just as an academic activity, but as a professional skill. Her focus is on making the writing process as easy as possible and the final product as effective as possible. At Adler School, Cathleen works with people individually or in groups to address writing concerns. She also provides written resources and occasional workshops. Click here to read her bio.
