Community Justice Faculty Affiliate

In over seven years of teaching, I have come to judge whether I was successful in a class by how much passionate self-activity I helped to generate in my students. I view the aim of education as developing students’ independent use of reason so that they become engaged citizens. Classrooms should cultivate students’ curiosity and self-activity; they should inspire students to both divest themselves of dogma and to transform how they engage in the world. No matter what course I teach, it is my goal that students leave the course with the desire to use what they learned to help craft a better world.
