  • Gottman Level 1 Training – CE’s Available (+)

    The Level 1 training will give students new insight into couples’ struggles using research-based assessments and effective interventions based on the Gottman Sound Relationship House Theory. The program combines lecture footage from a live Level 1 Training presented by Dr. John and Julie Gottman, actual video footage from Dr. John Gottman’s research with couples, and film clips from the Gottmans’ clinical practice. It incorporates small group discussions and a Q&A session with a Certified Gottman Therapist to enhance learning opportunities.     This event is open to Adler University students and alumni only. The cost is $99; 11 CEs are offered and cost an additional $29.99.Please email SWAG@my.adler.edu to RSVP for the Gottman Training.     Join us for our second annual (In)Justice for All Film Festival. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) has been thrust into our vernacular in recent years, typically as it relates to veterans returning from war. IPSSJ presents 2 short films that will challenge your moral compass as PTSD plays a role in one man's crushing and brings PTSD home to our neighborhoods where violence can seem like war . . . except that it never ends. These bookend short documentaries will provide rich soil for the panel disucssion to follow. Panelists include Adler University's Dr. Grady Osten-Garner, Chris Patterson of CeaseFire and Joshua Brooks of Cure Violence.

    The Adler Abilities Symposium is an event that works to foster a deeper understanding of the issues that persons with disabilities face and overcome daily. Through guest presentations from Chicago community members, non-profits, students, as well as artistic performances, the Abilities Symposium's primary focus is on ability, resilience, and available resources within the Chicago community that assist persons with disabilities specifically focusing on sport, physical activity, and workplace resources.

This event is open to everyone and is a great opportunity for out-of-town prospective students to learn more about the Art Therapy program and interact with the program's faculty and staff. The event will be facilitated by Duanita Eleniak, Master of Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy Program Director, and Yubai Liu, Admissions Advisor. A range of topics will be discussed including admissions requirements, practicum, program structure, and career options post-graduation.

  • Sexual Assault Awareness Week - Let's Discuss! (+)

    We will be showing 3-4 TED talks based around themes of domestic violence, sexual assault, and gender issues with open dialogue and discussion built in. The TED talk videos selected are short but powerful, and a great way to learn more, meet others who are passionate about this topic, and come up with the best ways to support our clients facing these issues. Free food and refreshments provided.
