Talk with Kids About Tragedy

Since the world began to receive news and express its shock over shootings at a Connecticut elementary school, parents have expressed concerns about addressing their children's reactions and questions about the tragedy.

Several Chicago media outlets seeking expert discussion on these questions have turned to David Castro-Blanco, Ph.D., Adler School Core Faculty member and head of the Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology Program, Child and Adolescent Psychology Track.

WTTW-TV's "Chicago Tonight" on Dec. 18 featured a roundtable discussion led by program host Phil Ponce, with guests Dr. Castro-Blanco, Northwestern University's Mark Reinecke, Ph.D., and Pulitzer Prize-winning Chicago Tribune reporter Patricia Callahan.
