Protecting Yourself
|
Be sure to get all details of your rental agreement in writing. If the landlord says he or she will repair or clean something before you move in, write this down and include it in the written agreement. Make sure both you and your landlord have a copy of all signed agreements. If you make changes to documents, both you and your landlord should put your initials next to each change. It's also good to always have proof of payment. Pay by check or money order, or get a receipt if paying in cash. Also, it's always good to take photographs to document any damage or repairs that may be needed.
