Board Chair Joy MacPhail Appointed to Order of Canada

University News | 01.05.22

Adler University is honoured to announce Joy MacPhail, Chair of the Board of Trustees, has been appointed to the Order of Canada. In late December, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon, Governor General of Canada, announced the appointment of 135 members to the Order of Canada.

The Order of Canada is one of the highest honours of Canadian civilian life. Since its creation in 1967, the Order of Canada has inducted over 7,000 Canadians who have made a significant difference in the county. MacPhail was nominated “for her pioneering contributions to politics and for her tireless advocacy of underserved communities,” according to the Governor General of Canada.

MacPhail is the owner of OUTtv, the world’s longest airing LGBTQ+ television network, creating a space of inclusion in the multi-media sphere. Additionally, MacPhail represented Vancouver-Hastings as an elected member of the British Columbia Legislative Assembly and has been a strong advocate for housing affordability and economic equality in the province.

Congratulations to Joy MacPhail! Adler University is immensely proud to have MacPhail join this group of distinguished Canadians. See a full list of the Governor General’s appointments here.
