New appointments in Finance, Information Technology

Two key leaders have assumed new roles to enhance operational efficiency and drive advancements across the institution

She is wearing a blouse.Melody Sousa has been named the associate vice president for Budget, Planning, and Vancouver Campus Operations. In this dual role, she will report to James Patti, interim chief financial officer, and continue to report to Brad O’Hara, Ph.D., executive dean of the Vancouver Campus.  

Sousa, who has been at Adler University since 2006, has more than 20 years of experience in management, strategic planning, business operations, human resources, and finance. She has a proven track record of building strong relationships, engaging stakeholders across multi-campus environments, and managing complex projects and policy implementation.  

In her new role, she will continue the work she began over the summer in helping to build Adler’s FY25 budget.  She will oversee the development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets and collaborate closely with departmental budget managers to identify opportunities for operational improvements. Her leadership will drive financial planning efforts across all campuses and ensure continued operational excellence in Vancouver. 

Sousa holds a Master of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia.  

Man siting in front of building wearing a suit jacketEric Korslin has been named executive director of Technology Services, on an interim basis, to lead the IT team after the recent departure of former Interim CTO Kamran Jamal. Upon his hiring as lead software developer in 2019, he has worked collaboratively and diligently to identify and improve critical processes through automation. Notably, he led the onboarding of prospective students into the student information system, which resulted in him being named director of Enterprise Applications in 2021. 

Korslin will oversee the entire IT department in his new role. With a proven track record , he will conduct a comprehensive review of the University’s technology and software budgets. Additionally, he will work on initiatives to optimize technology services at Adler University, ensuring that solutions align with institutional goals. His experience and leadership will be invaluable as the institution seeks to enhance internal business processes and streamline technology operations. 

Korslin graduated with an MBA from DePaul University in 2014 and completed Northwestern University’s Full-Stack Web Development certification program in 2018.
