From parenting and phobias to depression and managing life transitions, those curious how Adlerian principles and concepts apply to a wide range of practice areas have a revamped resource that is once again available at their fingertips: AdlerPedia.
AdlerPedia is an online space to explore with all things Adlerian, including rare digitized instructional and clinical videos that feature the teachings of Rudolf Dreikurs, who is credited as the reason why Adlerian Psychology is alive and well.
The online resource also provides free and open access to information and resources on Adlerian approaches and their application. It is also a forum to engage other Adlerians worldwide, along with providing information about well-known Adlerian scholars and practitioners.
“AdlerPedia is not only a repository of all related to Adler and Adlerian psychology, but it’s meant to create dialogues between clinicians and the non-clinical community,” said Marina Bluvshtein, Ph.D., director of the Center for Adlerian Practice and Scholarship (CAPS), which sponsors and administers the website. “It houses research, reports, resources, and images and videos, that can help generate conversations which can lead to a better understanding of Adlerian psychology and its applications.”
The website now also houses the Dr. Mosak Adlerbiblio, a unique project created by Harold Mosak, Ph.D., with a purpose of helping Adlerian students, scholars, and practitioners to gain broader exposure to and use of Adlerian literature. Dr. Mosak was among the influential educators that helped Dreikurs established the Alfred Adler Institute, which ultimately became Adler University. Dreikurs also founded the American Society of Adlerian Psychology (now North American Society of Adlerian Psychology).
First launched in 2014, AdlerPedia became a go-to resource for faculty and students interested in finding published works by Adlerians around the world.
However, in 2022, the website shut down due to technical challenges. CAPS immediately went to work to recover many of the data and information, fundraise, and began to rebuild the website with a goal of making it more efficient and user-friendly.
In the new and improved AdlerPedia, website visitors can now:
- Access, download, or add information on basic and advanced concepts.
- Learn about Adlerian research and suggest topics.
- Understand Adler’s influence on current philosophies of psychology.
- Learn more about past and current Adlerians and their work.
- Access a searchable bibliography of Adlerian published works.
“And we continue to add new resources, biographies, and publications every week,” said Dr. Bluvshtein. “My hope is that AdlerPedia becomes the go-to resource worldwide for faculty, students, graduates, and the general community to further enhance their understanding of all things Adler.”
