Catherine (Cat) Shieh

Cat Shieh is an experienced professional dedicated to social impact in a variety of industries, specifically in ABAR (anti-bias & anti-racism), ethnic studies, and DEI learning experiences.

She is currently the Senior DEI Program Manager of Campus Climate at Adler University’s Center for Diversity and Inclusion. Prior to her move to Adler, she was the Associate Director of the DEI Center at the American Bar Association, in which she drove the redesign and restructure of various events, reports, and initiatives to be more accessible. Cat initially got to explore the DEI realm through her first job in Chicago at Asian Americans Advancing Justice, creating trainings focused on de-escalating anti-Asian violence.

Much of Cat’s educational, organizing, and social policy frameworks are influenced by her K-12 Ethnic Studies teaching career, emphasizing intersectionality and student-centered learning. Her anti-bias & anti-racism (ABAR) curricula have been piloted in the Los Angeles Unified School District as well as multiple charter schools across California.

Before teaching, Cat worked in non-profit, public, higher education, and corporate consulting sectors all dedicated to social impact. During her time working in the US House of Representatives, she opened 2 Congressional Caucuses. Cat received her BA in Political Science and Urban Planning from the University of Southern California, and she received her MA in Urban Education, Administration, and Policy from Loyola Marymount University. Cat is an alum of Teach for America, Teach Plus, the Association of Raza Educators, and Coro.
