Dr. O’Connell is a clinical supervisor for Adler Community Health Services-Division of Teen Wellness and Opportunity (DTWO). She completed her master’s degrees in counseling psychology, specializing in forensic psychology, and in clinical psychology. She completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology with an emphasis on traumatic stress psychology. Dr. O’Connell has several years of experience working with individuals across the lifespan with a wide variety of mental health needs. However, her passion is working with young people who have experienced traumatic stress. She finds the work challenging, but powerful, and is grateful to be a part of their healing journey. Dr. O’Connell is clinically trained in understanding the impacts of trauma and individual reactions to traumatic experiences. She created a trauma-informed seminar for DTWO and is passionate about training future psychologists in how to best support the young people we work with across Chicago. She utilizes a feminist and relational approach in supervision focused on empowering trainees to grow both clinically and personally. In her free time, she loves spending time with family, gardening, and trying new restaurants in the city.
