Common Hour: Now We Know - Processing Election Results

With the U.S. presidential election results announced, we know some of us may be relieved and some may continue to feel nervous about the future. Last week we held space for our first reactions and emotions. We continue to leave space open this week to discuss.

And after we check-in to see how our broader community is doing, Camille with follow-up on the Common Hour challenge from earlier in the semester – how did your experiences go in engaging in civic dialogues over the past few months? Did you use the method provided in September:

• Engage in a dialogue with three people about what’s happening in the country.
• Critique elected officials by discussing how they’re analyzing and addressing problems and what you think should happen.
• Don’t agree? That’s okay! The goal is to share thoughts on our society’s problems and ideas for solutions.
• Share your civic resources and resources illustrating your point of view.
• Ask for resources that illustrate the other person’s point of view and why they believe their solutions will work.
• Agree to talk again after you review each other’s perspectives and resources. Fact check and review periods of history, legislature, and public policy.
• Learn from this process together.
