Chicago | Project Coordinator | Institute on Public Safety & Social Justice
Angel Pantoja currently serves as the Project Coordinator for the Institute on Public Safety and Social Justice working directly with the Illinois Coalition for Higher Education in Prison (ILCHEP). In this role he is called to support the many educators and Higher Education programs in correctional institutions across the state by collaborating with the Illinois Department of Corrections. His most rewarding role is educating the general public about th importance of higher education in prison which he does by visiting and facilitating classes at universities and colleges across Illinois.
Angel also currently serves as either a board member or coordinator of several organizations that help formerly incarcerated men and women have a successful reentry process. Having experienced the challenges of reentry, Angel is determined to make vital reentry components, such as education, housing, and mental health services accessible to the men and women who are return from incarceration.
