Adler University President Raymond E. Crossman, Ph.D., and Vancouver Campus Executive Dean Bradley O’Hara, Ph.D., share their sympathies following the recent plane crash in Iran in a message to Adler University students, faculty, staff, and trustees.

Our deepest sympathies are with the families, friends, and colleagues of the victims of the Ukraine International Airlines crash in Iran on Wednesday. We know that many of you have connections to the Persian community in British Columbia and are feeling this loss profoundly. Many of those lost from British Columbia were immigrants who had worked hard to create new lives for themselves and their families in Canada. The loss of so many pillars of our community is heartbreaking.

Concurrently, the impact of this loss on the Canadian post-secondary community is profound. We are saddened by the news that dozens of students, professors, and researchers from at least 18 colleges and universities across Canada have been identified among those lost.

This is a challenging time for our students, faculty, and staff. The shock of this incident is being felt across Canada. We understand too that international developments related to Iran in recent weeks have been, and continue to be, a cause of great concern.

We remind you that counselling and other supports are available to everyone in our community. We encourage anyone affected to reach out for the support you need during this time.
