DNAInfo Interviews Dr. Cooper on Million Dollar Blocks Project

DNAinfo Chicago interviewed Dan Cooper, Ph.D., about his latest project, Chicago's Million Dollar Blocks, which tracks how much is spent on incarceration for each block in the city. The site makes a case for justice reinvestment, which Cooper believes would be a less costly and more productive use of resources.

“We're always hearing about money being spent on development, and here you have this shadow budget pumping tons of money into taking people out of neighborhoods, instead of bringing them in,” said Cooper.

Dr. Cooper is an expert in community development and co-executive director of Adler University's Institute on Social Exclusion.
