Barton Buechner, Ph.D., senior adjunct professor for the Online Master of Arts in Military Psychology program, was featured in an LC Global CHANGE TALK about veteran-friendly organizations.

A Navy veteran, Dr. Buechner says that a veteran-friendly organization is a place where veterans can bring their best to work and serve as a barometer for an organization’s general well-being, authenticity, and mindfulness level.

“Organizations including schools and employers and businesses will say, ‘OK, we’ll hang out this veteran-friendly banner and say we want to hire veterans,’” said Dr. Buechner, “but that’s only the first part of the equation. The other part is retention of veterans in the company and at school, and that’s not just [done by] putting out a welcome mat.”
