Rachel D. Miller, a student in the Doctorate of Philosophy in Couple and Family Therapy program, was featured in a U.S. News & World Report story about doctorate degrees and why students choose to pursue them. Miller said she balances school with a full-time job and family, because she knows her program is worth the effort and will pay off in the long-run. She is planning to use her doctorate degree to conduct meaningful research into the best way to provide therapy to children impacted by domestic violence.

Miller also gave valuable academic advice to prospective doctoral students.

“Know your purpose for pursuing a doctorate because that is what is going to help carry you through,” Miller said.
