Vancouver Campus graduate and adjunct professor Alyson Jones, M.A. ’96, was featured on CTV after the sudden passing of Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi. Jones, a registered clinical counsellor, discussed why people can experience grief when celebrities pass away.

Celebrities "capture the imagination," Jones said. "They’re living exceptional lives, and often there's something [about them] that we get excited by and attach ourselves to. We have an emotional connection with them.”

Jones also discussed what people can do to cope in such situations, such as talk about grief with our loved ones and share in the sadness together.
