Windy City Times Covers LGBTQ Presidents in Higher Ed Conference Keynote

A Windy City Times reporter attended the first-ever LGBTQ Presidents in Higher Education conference to cover the keynote address by Rhode Island Congressman David N. Cicillini.

In his remarks, Cicillini noted the significant progress made in the U.S. toward accepting and supporting the LGBTQ community—the most recent and notable milestone being the Supreme Court's legalization of gay marriage, which was announced just one day earlier.

The congressman also recognized that there is still much to be done for equal rights and protections and said he is introducing a comprehensive LGBTQ anti-discrimination bill covering employment, housing, public accommodations and other core areas of everyday life this summer.

The conference, Shaping Our Futures, had more than 100 attendees and was focused on mentoring the next generation of 'out' college and university presidents as the ascend to the senior-most positions in higher education.
