Chicago | Associate Professor, Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) | Coordinator, Advanced Adlerian Psychotherapy Emphasis | Center for Adlerian Practice and Scholarship
As a professional, I am particularly interested in Individual Psychology, mood disorders, women’s issues, spirituality, and crisis intervention.
As a teacher, I strive for authenticity in Adlerian theory by demonstrating principles of the golden rule, equality, acceptance of difference, and responsibility for the common good. I strive to inspire students with my passion, help them expand their minds, and apply this knowledge to become better clinicians and socially responsible practitioners. The tools I use are lecture, class discussion led by me or a student, shared inquiry, reflection papers, discussion via electronic resources, professional movies, pop culture movies, role plays, mock therapy, and peer teaching in small groups.
I feel strongly about Adler University and what differentiates us. We offer students important skills and knowledge for the therapy room, but also important skills and knowledge for creating larger, systemic changes. And we are Adlerian—we are one of the few schools that value the theory, teach it, challenge it, and practice it on a clinical and community level. We are holism in action.
