Chicago | Assistant Professor, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Online
My style of teaching is rooted in my passion for the counselor role. I utilize a practitioner-professor style of teaching where I bring in real-life experiences to help bridge the gap between materials and how to apply them to the counseling role. In every class I attempt to bring in experiences that I have had as a beginning counselor as well as a licensed counselor. I strive to ensure activities reflect real-life scenarios as best as possible, so students feel prepared upon internship and graduation. I value my authenticity as a professor and strive to make the digital classroom a space that is not only safe and respectful but fun and, at times, humorous. I am passionate about getting to know my students so that they feel valued and supported throughout the program, pushing them to fulfill their goals while also challenging them to grow in their professional identity. My favorite part of teaching is the mentorship that occurs while students are finding who they are as counselors-in-training. My goal is to challenge students, support them, and push them to fulfill their goals as counselors while also upholding the standards of the field.
