Beginning in Spring 2027, Adler University’s Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) program in Chicago will offer a new spring entry option, providing students with an additional pathway into doctoral study.
The new spring cohort creates greater flexibility for students who may not follow a conventional academic timeline, including recent graduates and individuals returning to graduate education after time in the workforce or other professional experiences.
Rather than waiting for a traditional fall start, eligible students will have the opportunity to begin coursework in Spring 2027, gradually integrating into the Psy.D. curriculum. Students will then move into the standard coursework timeline the following fall.
“The spring start gives students more time to prepare for the rigors of doctoral training, and more room to pursue the specialized experiences that will define their careers,” said Interim Department Chair Deane Rabe, Psy.D. “It allows students additional time to explore areas of Specialisation, strengthen their academic foundation, and thoughtfully prepare for the clinical training sequences ahead.”
The spring start option is beneficial for students interested in specialized training pathways, including neuropsychology and other emphasis areas that require careful academic and practicum planning. By beginning coursework earlier, students can take advantage of additional time to pursue electives, gain relevant experiences, and prepare for future practicum placements.
Students entering through the spring cohort will complete foundational coursework prior to beginning practicum training, allowing for a more balanced progression through the program’s academic and clinical requirements.
The spring cohort reflects Adler University’s continued commitment to expanding access to graduate education while supporting student success through intentional program design and individualized academic planning.
