Women We Admire names Adler President Lisa Coleman as ‘Top Women Leader’ of 2024

Women We Admire has named Adler University President Lisa M. Coleman, Ph.D., as one of “The Top Women Leaders of New York for 2024” — a recognition given to those who have not only excelled in their fields but redefined success in the Empire State. The honor highlights President Coleman’s exceptional contributions during her tenure at New York University (NYU), where she consistently led initiatives that fostered inclusive leadership, innovation, and equity.

She joins a distinguished group of leaders, including Audrey Hendley, president of Global Travel and Lifestyle Services at American Express; Jennifer Remling, chief people and culture officer, Warner Bros. Discovery; and Stephanie Redish Hofmann, managing director and global client partner, Google.

“These accomplished professionals are making a significant impact at some of the most renowned companies,” according to Women We Admire, a membership organization of influential women executives and leaders across the U.S. and Canada.

As president of Adler, Dr. Coleman is committed to applying the insights and strategies developed at organizations throughout her career to build upon Adler’s successes and usher in a new era of innovation and inclusion.

“My journey has underscored the vital importance of fostering inclusive and resilient communities — and it is an honor to be recognized for this work,” said President Coleman.

“At Adler University, we stand at the forefront of an extraordinary opportunity to shape the future of global health and mental health equity. I am eager to share and leverage the expertise I have gained through my leadership roles to enhance our efforts as we confront complex health challenges, collaborating to create meaningful and lasting improvements in the well-being of communities around the world.”

Dr. Coleman, who joined Adler on Sept. 1, was previously the inaugural senior vice president for global inclusion and strategic innovation at NYU, spearheading initiatives that fostered inclusive leadership, co-creation, and innovation grounded in research, student, faculty, and staff development, and alum collaborations. At Harvard University, President Coleman also served in an inaugural role as the special assistant to the president and its first chief diversity officer. During her tenure, she and her team developed pioneering initiatives focused on technology and disability.

Over the past two decades, she has amassed many achievements across higher education, health care, and industry and has been recognized nationally and internationally for her work with governmental systems, and for-profit and nonprofit organizations.
