Adler University is hosting its third annual Joy MacPhail Women’s Leadership Showcase in Vancouver, B.C. on March 11 to advance and elevate the next generation of leaders.
Aptly themed “Accelerating Action,” the annual gathering of inspiring leaders, Adler students, and the Vancouver community will focus on one of the biggest ways to help address systemic barriers and biases — by supporting the supporters.
The theme is inspired by this year’s International Women’s Day campaign to highlight the importance of taking swift and decisive steps to positively impact women’s advancement, both in personal and professional spheres.
Hosted by the Adler University Vancouver Foundation, the invitation-only event will be held from 8-9:30 a.m. PST at The Permanent. It will include a keynote address by Adler University President Lisa Coleman, Ph.D. — marking her first public event in Canada.
A Q&A will follow Dr. Coleman’s keynote address to reflect on what role community members, including Adler University, can play in ensuring those advocating for gender equality thrive and succeed.
In addition, the event will recognize this year’s recipient of the Joy MacPhail Master of Public Policy and Administration Leadership Scholarship. The goal of the award is to provide financial support to a student as they build their leadership skills through service work.
The showcase and scholarship are first-of-its-kind initiatives at Adler following the creation of the Joy MacPhail Fund. The fund honours MacPhail for her years of dedication to the University as a board member, including serving as chair, and her contributions to community health and wellness as a longtime member of the British Columbia’s New Democratic Party.
