Beginning Fall 2025, Adler University will offer a Master of Psychology in Health and Wellness, which is designed for bold thinkers ready to drive change in health care, public health and community setting. This program prepares students to design interventions, affect health policies, and lead wellness initiatives in health care, population health, and corporate well-being.
One of the only programs of its kind in Canada, this 36-credit master’s degree integrates psychology, neurobiology, and leadership with a focus on evidence-based strategies for mental health, stress management, and organizational wellness. With 1 in 5 Canadians experiencing a mental illness annually and the corporate wellness market projected to reach $4.8 billion (CAN) by 2030, the program addresses the increasing demand for trained professionals in the expanding health and wellness sector.
“We are preparing graduates to lead in the rapidly growing field of health and wellness, which encompasses the full spectrum of mental, emotional, and physical well-being,” said Program Director Jason Walker, Psy.D., Ph.D. “This interdisciplinary program integrates psychology, neurobiology, and leadership to equip students with the expertise to foster holistic wellness in individuals and organizations. By focusing on evidence-based strategies to enhance mental health and overall well-being, we are ensuring our graduates are empowered to drive transformative change in diverse health environments.”
This new program replaces the Master of Applied Psychology, offering a more specialized and forward-thinking curriculum that underscores Adler University’s dedication to preparing graduates for leadership roles in health care, public health, the wellness industry and community organizations. By focusing on a holistic approach to mental, emotional, and physical well-being, the program ensures graduates are equipped to meet the growing challenges in diverse health and wellness settings.
Through a blended learning format, students will have the opportunity to take both in-person and online courses, allowing for flexibility while maintaining valuable face-to-face learning experiences. Additionally, a capstone project provides the opportunity for students to synthesize research and apply their knowledge to real-world health challenges.
Graduates of the Master of Psychology in Health and Wellness will be equipped to design and implement evidence-based wellness programs, advocate for policies that promote mental, emotional, and physical well-being, and address the ethical and cultural considerations in health and wellness interventions. They will also be prepared to lead initiatives that drive sustainable health outcomes in diverse communities. With expertise in health and wellness psychology, graduates will pursue leadership roles across a variety of fields, including public health, health care policy, corporate wellness, nonprofit organizations, and government health advocacy.
