International student admission requirements for Adler University can vary between Chicago, Vancouver, and online. Explore our full details below.

Chicago

 For admission consideration, students must provide the following:

Application Requirements:

Your application must include:

  • Application fee ($30 USD).
  • Resume or C.V.
  • Statement of intent.
  • Letters of recommendation.
  • Transcripts from all institutions attended. Degree granting foreign transcripts must be evaluated and include a course-by-course evaluation.
  • Passing language exam if conferred degree is outside of the U.S. or Canada.
  • Passport.

*Applicants submitting admission documents (transcripts, bank documents, English proficiency scores, etc.) that are found to have been altered or fabricated will be denied admission. Denials based on fraudulent documents cannot be appealed.

We review your application

  • The Admissions team at Adler will review your application to ensure we have all the information we need.
  • Your application is then sent to the Admissions Committee for review.
  • If the Committee approves your application, your advisor will reach out to schedule an interview with a faculty member. If the Committee denies your application, we will notify you by email.
  • After your interview, the faculty member will make their acceptance recommendation and your file is returned to Admissions for the final decision.

Accept your admission

Submit your deposit and register

  • Now you can accept your slot and submit your tuition deposit (M.A. – $200 USD, Doctoral – $300 USD)
  • The Admissions team can then issue to you an official I-20 so you can apply for your student visa.

Vancouver

For admission consideration, students must provide the following:

Your application must include:

  • Application fee ($30 CAD).
  • Resume or C.V.
  • Statement of intent.
  • Letters of recommendation.
  • Post secondary education from outside Canada and the U.S. needs a course-by-course transcript evaluation for the following programs: Master of Counselling Psychology (MCP), Master of Counselling Psychology: School and Youth Concentration (MCPSY), Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology: School and Youth Concentration (MACPSY), Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP), Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) and Master of Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy (MCPAT). If the post secondary education was completed in Canada or the US, the official transcripts from all institutions are required if the applicant is approved. 
  • For Master of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (MIOP), Master of Arts in Industrial and Organizational Psychology (MAIOP), and Master of Psychology in Health and Wellness (MOPHW), approved applicants must provide the official transcripts from all post secondary institutions but course by course evaluations are not required.
  • An English language assessment is required for applicants outside Canada and the U.S. where the language of instruction was not English. (There are some exceptions. Please speak with your admissions advisor for clarification)
  • Passport.

  • If the Committee approves your application, you will be referred to a faculty member to arrange a time for an interview. If the Committee denies your application, we will notify you by email.
  • After your interview, the faculty member will make their recommendation to accept your application  or not.

Accept your admission

  • You will receive your decision notice via email.
  • An admissions advisor will issue the offer letter with instructions for you to make the acceptance deposit.
  • Once you pay the deposit of $5,000 CDN, an Your advisor will create and send the Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) and Letter of Acceptance (LOA) to you via email.
  • Once you have received these documents, you can then apply for your study permit from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Study permit + registration

  • You must email Admissions your Letter of Introduction (LOI) once you receive the decision on your study permit. If your study permit is denied, your registration cannot proceed.
  • After we receive confirmation of your study permit, you can register for classes.
  • Permanent residents of Canada do not require a study permit. – International students possessing citizenship from a country outside of Canada must apply for a study permit.
  • All international students on a study permit require a co-op work permit to complete the practicum and internship components of their program. Students can apply for the co-op work permit at the same time as their study permit.

Online

For admission consideration, students must provide the following:

  • Letters of recommendation.
    *Letters of recommendation may be waived based on cumulative grade point average from your degree-granting institution for master’s applicants.
  • Transcripts from all institutions attended. Degree granting foreign transcripts must be evaluated and include a course-by-course evaluation.
    *Transcripts from non-degree-granting institutions may be eligible to be waived for those with a GPA above a 3.0
  • Complete and pass a language exam if first language is not English and conferred degree coursework was not delivered in English.
  • Writing sample (Ph.D. applicants only).

*Applicants submitting admission documents (transcripts, bank documents, English proficiency scores, etc.) that are found to have been altered or fabricated will be denied admission. Denials based on fraudulent documents cannot be appealed.

  • The Admissions team at Adler will review your application to ensure we have all the information we need.
  • Your application is then sent to the Admissions Committee for review.
  • Interviews for online programs are rarely required.
  • We will send you our final decision on your application as soon as we’ve completed our review.

Accept your admission

  • If admitted, you will receive your notice via email.

Accept our offer and register

  • Accept your slot in your program. You are not required to pay a deposit.
  • No immigration paperwork is necessary as all online coursework is completed online and does not require travel to the U.S. or Canada.
