New giveback scholarship will support recent MCP-AT graduates preparing for their Registered Canadian Art Therapist registration

The E. Chang Giveback Scholarship at Adler University is a significant new initiative aimed at supporting the ongoing professional development of its Master of Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy graduates. This gift, made by Eve Chang to the Adler University Vancouver Foundation, seeks to increase the number of highly qualified Registered Clinical Art Therapists (RCATs) by supporting postgraduate alum.

The scholarship will provide funding to select alum of the Master of Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy to serve as supervisors, enabling them to offer support to nine recent graduates. These supervisees, all active practitioners in counselling art therapy, will benefit from postgraduate supervision designed to help them achieve the required credentials to offer future supervisory services. This “giveback” expectation aims to ensure a sustainable cycle of mentorship and professional growth within the Adler community.

“This is a transformative opportunity for our alum and the broader art therapy community. Eve’s generous gift will not only enhance the professional development of our graduates but also ensure a legacy of mentorship and leadership within our program,” said Keturah Welton, the art therapy program director at Adler University in Vancouver. “We are deeply grateful to Eve Chang for her vision and support.”

Eligible supervisee applicants must be Adler University alum of the Master of Counselling Psychology: Art Therapy program and registered as BCACC Clinical Counsellors or CCPA members with active liability insurance. They must also commit to the supervisory experience, aiming to complete 1000 direct client hours and 50 supervision hours.

The first round of applications will be accepted starting September 2025, with rolling admission. A total of nine applicants will be awarded, with up to three applicants per year.

To apply for the scholarship please complete the application form and send an email to the E. Chang Giveback Scholarship program with your CV and cover letter explaining why you are a good fit for the program.
