With a theme of “Adlerian Psychology: Doing What Works,” this year’s Adlerian Summit — hosted by the Center for Adlerian Practice and Scholarship (CAPS) — offers a powerful series of Adlerian training filled with lectures and discussions that help us tackle the social and new clinical challenges of our time.
Marina Bluvshtein, Ph.D. — who is this year’s North American Society of Adlerian Psychology (NASAP) Lifetime Achievement Award recipient — will lead a historical, theoretical, and clinical presentation on “Tyranny and Wars: From Tyrannical Personality to Mass Tyranny – An Adlerian Perspective.” Dr. Bluvshtein is also a NASAP diplomate in Adlerian Psychology and serves as president of the International Association of Individual Psychology. The lecture is available in person and virtually.
To be held on the Chicago Campus on Nov. 3 from 9 a.m.-noon, the 2023 Adlerian Summit includes four in-person breakout sessions led by Adlerian scholars following Dr. Bluvshtein’s lecture:
- Hysteria: A Barrier to Belonging in a Healthy Society – Dinko Aleksandrov, Psy.D.
- An Adlerian Approach to Mindfulness, Meditation, Movement, and Self-Expression – Jennifer La Civita, Psy.D.
- Counseling Older Adults: Useful Adlerian Concepts and Clinical Interventions – Mark Bilkey, Psy.D.
- Using Early Recollections to Understand and Treat Severe Psychopathology – Dr. Bluvshtein.
Continuing education units are available for in-person attendance for Illinois marriage and family therapists, counselors, social workers, and American Psychological Association CEUs for psychologists.
