Dr. Winley is a recognized relationship expert in couple and family therapy with more than a decade of experience working with individuals, couples, children, and families. She is passionate about supporting high-conflict couples and integrates her clinical approach with evidence-based models, including Attachment-Based Family Therapy and Emotion-Focused Therapy, in her private practice.
She serves as an assistant professor and AAMFT-approved supervisor in the Couple and Family Therapy Department, where she teaches foundational and advanced courses to master’s and doctoral students. Dr. Winley earned both her master’s and doctoral degrees in Couple and Family Therapy from Drexel University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Family Institute at Northwestern University, where she later served as director of the Bette D. Harris Family and Child Clinic. Dr. Winley’s research interests include intergenerational trauma, friendship quality, high conflict couples, suicide prevention, and person of the therapist training and supervision. Through her experiences, she discovered her deep passion for mentoring and training the next generation of family scientists.
Dr. Winley actively engages with broader audiences through social media, her Psychology Today and Therapy for Black Girls columns, and as a consultant for Showtime’s Couples Therapy. She is also a Certified Women’s Relational Health Coach, specializing in friendship coaching in collaboration with Danielle Bayard-Jackson’s Friend Forward.
Outside of her professional roles, Dr. Winley enjoys film, traveling, and spending quality time with her nephew.
