Adler University’s counselling psychology programs in Vancouver, B.C., has earned national recognition for the second consecutive year, placing among the top 10 on CourseCompare’s Best Master’s in Counselling Psychology in Canada for 2026.
The ranking positions Adler alongside institutions including the University of Alberta, the University of Toronto, and the University of Victoria.
“The mental health landscape in Canada continues to evolve, and our graduates are stepping into critical roles across the province and country,” said Asa-Sophia Maglio, Ph.D., counselling psychology program director. “This second consecutive top-10 ranking speaks to the quality and relevance of our training, but more importantly, to the impact our alumni are making in communities every day.”
In Vancouver, Adler University offers multiple graduate pathways in counselling psychology tailored to students pursuing careers in mental health across both public and private sectors, including the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP), with a thesis option, and the Master of Counselling Psychology (MCP), a non-thesis alternative.
Students interested in working with children can also choose from Adler’s school and youth specializations, available as both a thesis-based Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology: School and Youth and a non-thesis Master of Counselling Psychology: School and Youth program.
The counselling psychology programs are structured to equip graduates with the skills needed to support individuals, families, and groups facing a wide range of mental and emotional health concerns. Graduates are prepared for practice in diverse settings such as mental health clinics, community organizations, and private practices. All programs are designed for completion within two years of full-time study.
“We’ve designed our programs to offer flexibility without compromising rigor,” Dr. Maglio added. “Whether students are drawn to research or want to focus entirely on clinical practice, we provide pathways that prepare them to meet the diverse mental health needs of the communities they’ll serve.”
