Overview
Adler University is an exciting place to be because it is driven by a mission that challenges us all to look forward with a measure of courage and also of practicality to face inequality and challenging social conditions in ways that are both innovative and collaborative. My work includes creating programs, research, and events that promote socially just solutions to public safety problems. I partner with community members and agencies, law enforcement, detention facility staff and inmates, as well as universities and government in an effort to implement socially just policies and practices that are beneficial to all.
My interests include violence prevention, mass incarceration, reentry issues, therapeutic approaches to dealing with trauma, immigration, and methods to increase public safety in ways that are socially just. I love to be as participatory as possible in both learning and teaching – giving all students an opportunity to relate their personal experiences to the lesson at hand is important to me.
