Frequently Asked Questions
Will I still receive my wellness program discount for the upcoming plan year if I completed the program requirements?
Yes. Wellness incentives completed between July 1, 2025, and May 31, 2026, will carry over and be applied toward your UHC premiums for the upcoming plan year.
How do I know if I completed the wellness program requirements?
If you are unsure whether you completed the requirements, please contact People & Culture at peopleandculture@adler.edu and we will help confirm your status.
Are my payroll contributions changing?
Yes. Employee premium contributions will increase modestly for the upcoming plan year. Most employees can expect an increase of approximately 2–5% per month, or roughly $3–$10 per paycheck depending on plan selection and coverage tier.
How do I know if my providers are covered under UHC?
UHC has confirmed that 97.2% of currently utilized PPO providers and 100% of currently utilized HMO providers are in-network. Employees are still encouraged to verify their individual providers directly through UHC once enrollment materials are released.
When will I receive my new medical ID card?
Your new coverage will become effective July 1, 2026. Employees will have access to a digital ID card through UHC beginning July 1, and physical ID cards will be mailed shortly thereafter.
When does my BCBS coverage end?
Coverage through BCBS will remain active through June 30, 2026.
Will the same plans currently offered through BCBS be available through UHC?
Adler worked to preserve alignment with our current plan structures as much as possible during this transition. While there may be some plan design differences, employees will continue to have comparable medical plan options available through UHC.
Detailed benefit guides and plan comparisons will be shared during Open Enrollment meeting with UHC scheduled for:
- May 27 – Open Enrollment Information Meeting, Option 1 (hosted by UHC)
- May 28 – Open Enrollment Information Meeting, Option 2 (hosted by UHC)
- May 29 – Open Enrollment Information Meeting, Option 3 (hosted by UHC)
Will I be required to complete a spousal coverage affidavit?
Yes. Employees enrolling a spouse in Adler’s medical coverage will be required to complete a spousal coverage affidavit during Open Enrollment.
A spousal coverage affidavit is a form used to confirm whether your spouse has access to medical coverage through their own employer. This information helps the University better manage healthcare plan costs responsibly.
What does “active enrollment” mean?
Because Adler is changing insurance carriers, all benefits-eligible employees must actively enroll during Open Enrollment — even if you wish to keep the same coverage elections.
Your current elections will not automatically carry forward into the new plan year. Employees who do not complete enrollment will risk loss of coverage.
When will I receive more detailed information about the plans?
Detailed benefits guides, plan summaries, payroll contribution information, and enrollment instructions will begin to be distributed during the week of May 18.
Who should I contact with questions?
Please contact People & Culture at peopleandculture@adler.edu with any questions regarding the transition, Open Enrollment, or plan options.
Will my deductible and out-of-pocket (OOP) maximum amounts reset on July 1st with the move to UHC?
UHC will honor any deductible and out-of-pocket (OOP) maximum amounts that members have already met in 2026. These amounts will be transferred from BCBSIL to UHC at the start of the new plan year. Deductible and out-of-pocket (OOP) maximum amounts will not reset until January 1st, as they will continue to run on a calendar year basis.
