Dr. Tanya Prewitt-White, is a faculty member at the University of Illinois-Chicago, the Association of Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Advocacy Chair, a survivor advocate, certified mental performance coach (CMPC) and the owner of Dr. Tanya Raquel. She received the 2020 American Psychological Association (Division 47) Steven R. Heyman Diversity and Inclusion Award for her social justice work in the field of sport psychology. Her advocacy work intersect sexual misconduct prevention and anti-racist work for White identifying individuals. Though, whether it be writing about or discussing the exploitative, sexist, racist and homonegative recruiting practices in FBS Football in the United States, the lack of policy and inclusive practices for transgender people and athletes, the myths about women who CrossFit while pregnant or the intersections of oppression present in athletics and society, Tanya can be found having the conversation. She is committed to using her voice and finding the courage to say hard things with grace so that every person is heard and able to reach their personal best.
